TOUR - AURUM
The name Aurum (Latin for Gold) is a reflection of
the fact that both vineyards have been established near old gold workings.
45th Parallel
Vineyard is situated on terraces below rare ‘blowdown’ sluicings
and the Riesling and Pinot Gris are planted in the gravel washout from
this 19th century operation.
Te Wairere Vineyard, settled into the edge
of Lake Dunstan at McNulty Inlet (Te Wairere is the Maori name for
the north arm of Lake Dunstan) is situated close to the gold dredging
operations
of the 19th and early 20th century.
