Aurum Wines ( Aurum is the Latin word for gold) is a family owned and operated boutique winery established by Joan and Tony Lawrence in 1997 to produce premium Central Otago wines. Tony is also a practising Orthodontist in Queenstown. Their son Brook is the viticulturalist and winemaker who trained as a winemaker in South Australia and who has done vintages in New Zealand and Burgundy and Alsace in France. His wife Lucie is the principal winemaker. Lucie is a third generation winemaker in her family who own vineyards in Burgundy. She is a graduate in oenology from the University of Dijon. Lucie allies her French winemaking skills with the clean intense fruit of Central Otago. |
